SAP wins responsible AI Impact Award: Focus on climate protection!
Zentrales London, Großbritannien - London has again presented itself as a hotspot for climate innovation. In the period from July 14th to 2025, the London Climate Action Week took place, an event that brought together over 45,000 delegates and 700 events. The focus was on the exchange of innovative solutions to combat climate change. During this week, SAP received the renowned Responsible Ai Impact award honored.
The main goal of this award lies in the acceleration of climate protection measures, especially before the upcoming COP30 in Belém. The focus of the conference was on three topics: decarbonization and resilience, the mobilization of climate finance and the digital innovation by AI. It was particularly exciting how companies integrate climate data into their strategic decisions in order not only to better manage physical risks, but also to advance concrete measures in climate policy.
progress in climate finance and digital innovation
A central concern of the London Climate Action Week was to close the gap between available climate capital capacities and the real economy transformation. The Mayor of London announced a new climate finance takskforce to help companies present decision-relevant sustainability data. SAP plays a key role here by linking environmental and financial data to with each other to enable companies to make faster and efficient decisions.
Digital innovation offers numerous options. Sessions about digital tools to reduce emissions and to optimize supply chains showed how KI can be used specifically to support human activities. SAP’s Green Ledger and the SAP Sustainability Control Tower are important steps in the right direction by linking CO2 emissions to financial key figures.
The change in the area of air conditioning technologies
With a growing market for air conditioning technologies, which offers enormous potential for CO2 reduction, start-ups are often faced with the challenge of receiving the necessary capital to implement their ideas. Professor Andreas Goldthau from the University of Erfurt has assessed COP27 as a “lost conference” with regard to global warming, which underlines the urgency of investments in this area. Federal Minister of Finance Christian Lindner also presented the concept of the "German Engineered Climate Protection", which relies on synthetic fuels and hydrogen.
companies that offer innovative solutions in areas such as construction, energy, mobility and agriculture are required to achieve the German climate goals. It is estimated that over 200 billion euros of risk capital will have to flow into air conditioning technologies by 2030, whereby the incentives for growth funding urgently need to be improved. In addition, a study by the German Energy Agency (dena) shows that less than 5% of the EUR 22.7 billion required annually has been provided for air conditioning technology start-ups.
Finally, new technologies, such as the start-up Gryn, that enable real-time analyzes of transport emissions are essential to push the reduction in climate effects. The technologies are intended to help strengthen the resistance of the communities against the effects of climate change. The London Climate Action Week was more than just a conference; It is a crucial step into the future of trust formation and innovation in climate protection. If you are not acting now, you will lose your connection and miss the chance of sustainable and successful economic transformation.
