Regensburg Startup Complioty wins at the Athene cybersecurity competition!

Darmstadt, Deutschland - In June 2025, the exciting final of the Athene SpeedupSecure Accelerator took place, in which five promising Cybersecurity startups presented themselves in front of a jury. The competition, which is organized by the National Research Center for Applied Cybersecurity Athene, impressively shows how innovation spirit thrives in Germany. Among the participants Stach Complioty from Regensburg, which took first place. The company, founded in 2024, has developed a AI-based compliance-as-a-service platform for small and medium-sized companies (SME) in the OT environment, and was able to secure the prize money of 10,000 euros. This platform aims to identify security risks and to facilitate compliance with regulations, such as the NIS2 directive and the cyber resilience act (CRA).

The second startup, Zealience from Frankfurt, won second place and received 5,000 euros. Zealience specializes in the automation of compliance processes for IoT devices, whereby its main product, the software Z-CMS, supports the creation of technical documentation in accordance with the standard EN 18031. In third place, Contexxt landed from Saarbrücken, also founded in 2018, and received 2,500 euros. The company is working on the development of safe, data protection-compliant generative AI solutions and, with its platform Sesame, offers an innovative combination of local open source language models and vectord data banks.

Another highlight of the event

In addition to the winners, the startups Threat informed cybersecurity from Mainz and morphosis from Kaiserslautern also presented themselves. Both companies take part in the extensive training program of the accelerator, even if they did not receive prize money. This underlines the value of the SpeedUpSecure program, which, as a free six-week accelerator program, aims to promote cybersecurity startups in Germany. The participants benefit from specialized training, mentoring and the opportunity to network with industry experts.

SpeedUpSecure is not just a competition, but an approach to drive the market development for cybersecurity solutions in Germany and to network the founding teams with experienced partners. Participation is generally open to all technology-based cyber startups and founding teams that are not older than three years. Interested parties had to apply until March 31, 2025, whereby the program was running from the beginning of May to mid -June 2025.

cyber security in Europe in focus

The importance of the solutions that develop the startups is also underlined by the current EU regulations on cyber security. In Europe there are several new legal measures that aim to improve cyber security in different sectors. This includes, among other things, the NIS2 guideline that imposes a number of obligations in critical areas. This guideline applies in particular to large companies that offer data-based services, such as data centers and cloud services.

Another relevant aspect are the cyber resilience act (CRA) and the CER directive. The CRA, which will come into force from December 2024, will introduce clear safety requirements for products with digital elements. Companies that focus on safety -related products should inform themselves in good time about these regulations in order to avoid possible punishments and fines that can be sensitive if they are not complied with.

In this dynamic scene, in which innovation and change are the order of the day, the Athene SpeedupSecure program is an outstanding example of how cybersecurity startups can be supported in developing their solutions. This is not just about prize money, but also about valuable experiences and networks that can provide the startups a decisive competitive advantage on the market.
