Moldova robotics teams shine: quarter-finals in Europe!
Athen, Griechenland - In recent years, the Republic of Moldova has experienced a remarkable upswing in the area of robotics. Recently, four Moldova student teams - Techno Storm, Sirius, Yunet Robotic and Roborangers - conquered the international stage at the First Tech Challenge European Premier Event Eindhoven took place. With 96 teams from 25 countries it was a comprehensive event and all four Moldovan teams reached the play-off phase, which impressively demonstrated their skills.
The appearance of the Roborangers, who pushed up to the quarter -finals and finally took fifth place, was particularly outstanding. This is an expression of the considerable progress that Moldova has made in the past two years since it has participated in the first tech challenge. A comprehensive educational program that was launched by the national educational robotics program of Moldova promotes the networking and skills in robotics.
National support for robotics
The national educational program was introduced in 2014 and has now reached over 50,000 students in 270 schools. Over 650 teachers have trained in robotics, which forms the broad basis for this impressive success. Coordinated support comes from such initiatives as Innovate Moldova becomes. The National Center for Digital Innovation plays a key role under the Ministry of Education and Research.
The coordinator for MINT formation at Innovate Moldova, Veronica Esanu, found how important international connections are. At this event, Moldova teams with representatives from the VAE, Israel and other European countries were able to get in touch. Moldova has positioned their success as potential hosts for future First Tech Challenge events, and the Moldavians have already won several medals in global competitions in the past.
global success and innovative approaches
Just only won Moldova at the World Robotics Olympiad Gold medalals, and that already fourth time in a row. The event took place in Athens in September and attracted 193 countries. The Moldova team even became a double master and won medals for the Winning Alliance and in the engineering innovation category.
The First Global Challenge, an important international platform for robotics competitions, will take place in Panama in 2025, and the Roborangers team will represent Moldova there. These competitions are not only an opportunity to show technical skills, but also a platform for promoting teamwork and creativity in a global framework.
The First® Lego® League is, for example, another program that motivates children and adolescents aged 9 to 16 in science and technology. Every year a new topic presents the teams with exciting challenges and not only promotes their technical skills, but also social skills such as teamwork and presentation skills.
With this strong basis for support and the pursuit of innovation, Moldova will continue to be very popular in the area of robotics in the future. The students have the talent and motivation to master these technologies and to further expand their achievements at an international level.
